“Leaf-footed Bugs“
The dock bug, scientifically known as Coreus marginatus, was first described by Carl Linnaeus in 1758 and later transferred to the genus Coreus by Johan Fabricius. It has various synonyms and was previously placed in the genus Syromastus. The species has reddish-brown speckled head, pronotum, and abdomen, with distinct markings on the rounded edge of the abdomen. It has four-segmented antennae, with the final segment being black. The dock bug is found in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It has an annual life cycle with five nymphal instars before reaching adulthood. The species is herbivorous, feeding on various plants from different families, including Polygonaceae, Asteraceae, and Rosaceae.
