Heliophanus cupreus is a type of spider with different subspecies found in various regions like Europe, North Africa, Turkey, and China. These spiders live in diverse habitats such as woodlands, grasslands, and coastal cliffs, preferring drier locations. They are small, with males measuring around 3.6–4 mm and females 4.6–5.8 mm, having a dark body with a metallic sheen and distinctive markings. These spiders are active mainly in May, June, and July, with females possibly staying active until autumn.
