The Carpocoris fuscispinus species has four recognized subspecies: hahni, incerta, maculosa, and mediterranea. They are medium-sized shield bugs ranging in color from greyish yellow to reddish brown. Their larvae are polyphagous, but commonly found on plants from the Apiaceae and Asteraceae families. The adults are active from June to October and overwinter as adults. They have a wide distribution throughout Europe, particularly in deciduous and mixed forest areas.
